THE BRICK AT THE EDGE

By; Babajide Martins Faleru, bamfale769@yahoo.co.uk

It seems so hot and the weather tends to be harsh, everybody wants to survive the scorching weather, but many don’t know how, hence, different methods are being applied.

This is a nation born with talents, resources, manpower and all other potentials therein, but It is at the edge of collapse and has turned into a rogue State where the Lords rule in their different domain and the government reason it to be normal because it uses the Lords as a weapon to subdue any uprising in the country, aimed at quenching the upright souls.

The government can’t control the whole nation due to the glaring fact that Nigeria was formed through the Lord Lugard’s brain of the 1914 amalgamation, an arrangement perfectly prepared by the British, the colonial master.

The amalgamated nations after decades cry out for dissolution, in order to kick-start a new phase that will lead to the birth of a new nation, although with a new arrangement that each nation will govern itself.

The Federal Government of Nigeria Lo and behold is not buying the ideology, which, from all indications propelled the likes of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (IPOB), Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho, Professor Banji Akintoye (Yoruba Nation) and the rest calling for self-determination.

The legality of it is right according to the Geneva Convention. “By virtue of the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, all peoples have the right freely to determine, without external interference, their political status and to pursue their economic, social and cultural development Every State has the duty to respect this right in accordance with the provisions of the Charter”.

If the brick at the edge of a pillar has been removed, the pillar wouldn’t be able to stand on its own, and definitely the whole structure will collapse and Nigeria will cease to exist.

A referendum should be the paramount, and the advocacy should continue until we get it. If the government should push them to the edge, it might escalate into a war, all the agitations will end, and the major aim will be dashed, thereby leading to total anarchy as a result of war.

It would be better for the government to have a round table with the groups at the mercy of the people of Nigeria to save them from abject poverty that the systems have caused.

Denying of their right to have a better life and improve their economic power for access to their resources in order to develop them can create an economic revolution.
