NICOT President Commemorates Nigeria’s Democracy Anniversary •Charges Leaders to Re-align to Core Values of Democratic Rule

President of the Nigeria Community Turkey, Prince Emre Magboh has commemorated with the Government and people of Nigeria as they mark their 22nd democracy anniversary.

In a chat today Saturday, 12th June, 2021, Magboh stated that Nigeria as the largest Nation in the African continent, it has continued to be looked upon as a leader in the comity of nation owing to her practice in democratic rule since 29th May, 1999 till date.

President of NICOT hinted that democratic system in Nigeria aimed at providing effective governance at all levels after 22years have not lived up to the full expectations of the masses as he charged Nigeria leaders to re-align themselves to the fundamentals of democracy for the benefit on Nigerians.

Magboh expressed optimism that the desired change that Nigeria needs can still be achieved through collective efforts of the populace who want to contribute their quota as stakeholders and partners in progress.

The community president maintained that the beauty of democracy promotes rule of law, due process, freedom of speech and other values that encourages the sanctity of human rights, added that democracy eliminates discrimination of any sort.

He elaborated on the ideals and features that characterize a democrat, stressing that the need for a ‘government of the people, by the people, for the people’ informed the decision of Nigerians to adopt the democratic system of government in May 29th, 1999. He admonished Nigerians to always pray and support the building of a better society where everyone could be proud of.
