Police free abducted Bayelsa civil servant, arrest 2 suspected kidnappers

The Bayelsa state police command has rescued a female civil servant in the state who was abducted by a four-man gang in Yenegoa, the state capital.

The police arrested two of the suspected kidnappers who disguised as the state Government Task Force Team, while they were trying to withdraw cash from her account on Friday February 26.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Mr. Asinim Butswat said the suspects were arrested following a tip-off.

Though two members of the gang escaped, a revolver pistol with three rounds of live ammunition were recovered by the police team which arrested two other members of the gang who have been identified as Headman Eniyi and Ebi Tonbofa.

Butswat said;

“You will recall that the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Mike Okoli, had earlier ordered police detectives to fish out the armed gang when similar reports were made to the Police Command.

“The suspects are cooperating with us in the investigation and they will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.”
