“Homosexual acts should be condemned emphatically while respecting the human person” – Fr. Kelvin Ugwu reacts to Pope Francis’ approval to bless same-sex couples

Nigerian Catholic priest, Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, has reacted to Pope Francis’ decision authorizing the Roman Catholic Church to bless same-sex couples.

In a historic announcement from the Vatican on Monday, December 18, 2023, the Pope formally signed off a new policy allowing Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples as long as they are not part of regular church rituals or liturgies in context related to civil unions or weddings.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the missionary priest said homosexual acts should be condemned emphatically.

“There is nothing like same-sex couple. We should not even use the term “couple” to address them in the first place. Man and man cannot be a couple, woman and woman cannot be a couple. Homosexual acts should be condemned emphatically while respecting the human person. Full stop,” he wrote.
