Gov Ganduje’s sacked aide, Salihu Tanko-Yakassai, released from DSS custody

The sacked media aide to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Tanko-Yakassai, has been released from the custody of the Department of State Services.

He was released to his family on Monday evening, March 1.

His brother, Abdullahi Yakasai, disclosed this on Twitter this evening.

“Alhamdulilah. My brother @dawisu is out. Thank you all! #freedawisu,” Abdullahi tweeted.

There was an uproar on social media over the weekend after he was arrested hours after calling for the resignation of the Buhari-led government if they cannot tackle insecurity in the country.

The DSS initially denied his arrest but later admitted he was in their custody. A statement from Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesman, said he was being investigated over issues beyond the expression of opinions in the social media as wrongly alleged by sections of the public.

The state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, also terminated his appointment over his comment about the Buhari-led government.

Nigerians who were outraged by his arrest used the hashtag #freedawisu to demand his release.
