36-year-old father of four hacked to death by suspected Fulani militia in Plateau state

The attack occurred along Riyom-Kum road at about 9:00pm on March 7, 2021, when the men were returning home from Riyom. 

36-year-old father of four, Bitrus Chollom, was hacked to death by the assailants while Isaac David and Emmanuel Davou managed to escape. 

Chollom is survived by his wife Mrs Esther Bitrus and 4 children namely, Tiss Bitrus, 12, Peace Bitrus 10, Obed Bitrus 8, and Mafeng Btrus 5 year old.

Armed men suspected to be Fulani militias ambushed three men in Kum village, Riyon Local Government Area of Plateau State killing one while the others escaped with injuries.

Youth leader of Kum village, Mr. Tengwong Dalyop, condemned the incessant attack on innocent locals. 

“We have been struck with another tragic incident by suspected Fulani militias who ambushed and killed one of our youth last night again. The Fulani have continued attacking and killing our people without any form of provocation and in spite of security matching order by the Commissioner of Police that there should never be any form of aggression again” he said.

Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Gabriel Ogaba, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, March 9, said investigation is ongoing.
