Ebele village in Umuogodo Akpu, Mgbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state was attacked by unknown gunmen on Sunday April 11.
Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba confirmed the attack but said the number of casualties is still unclear.
Ebonyi commissioner for internal security and border peace Stanley Okoro-Emegha who also confirmed the attack, disclosed that while some said it was a communal crisis, others said it was carried out by herdsmen.
He also revealed that they are yet to unravel those behind the attack and the number of lives and properties destroyed.
The attack occurred hours after the governors of the south-east region announced the formation of a joint security outfit, codenamed ‘Ebube Agu’.
