Rafa Benitez set to sign historic deal to become Everton’s new manager this week

Rafa Benitez is set to sign a historic deal by signing a deal that will make him the first man in modern history to manage at both Liverpool and Everton.

The Spaniard is expected to sign his new contract in the next few days, with the club provisionally planning to confirm his arrival on Tuesday.

The 61-year-old will become the Toffees’ fifth permanent manager after Carlo Ancelotti, who left Goodison Park to return to Real Madrid earlier this month.

Benitez’s arrival will come 11 years after he left Anfield, where he spent six years as Liverpool manager, winning the Champions League and FA Cup.

The former Newcastle and Real Madrid manager was also Chelsea’s interim coach for the majority of the 2012/13 season, winning the Europa League, before coaching Newcastle United for more than three years before leaving at the end of 2018/19 campaign.

According to Mail Online, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is convinced that Benitez, who is considered among the most-iconic former Liverpool managers, is the best coach to take Everton into the Champions League despite backlash from Evertonians over his imminent appointment.
