Let’s Synergize To Improve Welfare Of Nigerians In Turkey – Ambassador Yusuf Ismaila Urges NICOT

The newly appointed Nigeria Ambassador to Turkey, Amb. Yusuf Ismaila Abba has called on the Nigeria Community Turkey (NICOT) to form a formidable alliance with the consulate for an improved welfare and living conditions for citizen’s resident in Turkey.

The Ambassador stated this on 10th June, 2021at his office when apex leaders of the Nigeria Community Turkey led by the President, Prince Emre Magboh paid a courtesy visit to officially welcome him in Turkey after his appointment by President Mohammadu Buhari to oversee and represent the interest of Nigerians.

Ambassador Ismaila said that a healthy cooperation between the Nigerian Embassy and NICOT will bridge communication lapses, create an enabling environment for prompt response to the plights of Nigerian and engage higher diplomatic ties for their benefit.

NICOT president, Prince Emre Magboh and Ambassador Ismaila Yusuf Abba flanked by other NICOT Executive at the Nigerian embassy in Ankara recently.

He urged NICOT to cultivate a fundamental ideology that will promote unity among all the Nigeria communities in Turkey for a more harmonious relationship that promotes oneness and patriotism for our common good.

The Ambassador expressed bitterness over some unpatriotic Nigerians who take to the street in protest of happenings back home in Nigeria. He pointed out that such demonstration portrays the image of the country in bad light adding that other nationalities do not indulge in such action overseas.

Earlier in his address, the President of Nigerian Community Turkey, Prince Emre Magboh welcomed Ambassador Yusuf Ismaila Abba to Turkey and expressed confidence in him following his 34-year track record in active service for the people of Nigeria.

He gave a brief history of NICOT and recounted the communities countless efforts in providing succor to challenges faced by Nigerians and maintained that the Executive of NICOT are always on their toes to provide the required attention needed by Nigerians to the best of their ability.

Prince Magboh enumerated the role NICOT executive played to give relief materials to Nigerians during and after the lockdowns which was orchestrated by the pandemic. Prince Magboh stressed that mediating and intervening for the welfare of all Nigerians through the issuance of covering letters, payment of hospital bills, providing support and aid by every means possible have been some of the vital role played by the community.

The de-tribalize leader of NICOT maintained that the relationship and understanding with their host country has been sustained through their leadership as he noted that his office is now a reference point to all seeking his attention as he also recalled their efforts and victory in the fight against cultism.

Other Executive members present at the meeting include; Mr. Onyezonwu Israel Gift, Mr. Kazeem Abimbola Obafemi Jackson, Mr. Onur Berkay, Mr. Ariwodo Henry and Mr. Faleru Babajide Martins. A plaque presentation was earlier done for recognition and support by NICOT.
