Police arrest four and impound 21 vehicles in Abuja over illegal car racing

Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested four suspects and impounded 21 cars following the full enforcement of Regulation 228 of the Road Traffic Act on the prohibition of illegal car races and other similar offences.

This came after a public outcry over the damages being recorded in different parts of the territory following car racing.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday had also ordered all the Divisional Police Officers and their supervisory Area Commanders in Abuja to ensure that those involved in illegal car racing, acceleration contests, speed competitions or test of physical endurance, amongst others in Abuja are arrested.

Police Public Relations Officer in FCT, DSP Josephine Adeh confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Monday December 27.

Adeh said the suspects were nabbed on Sunday December 26, around Muhammadu Buhari way, by Nikon Insurance Area where they converged for illegal car racing.
