President Buhari today April 14 presided over the council of state meeting at the presidential villa.
The meeting which kicked off around 10:00 am will be the fourth time President Buhari will preside over the council which is an advisory body to any sitting president of the country.
At the commencement of the meeting, a one-minute silence was observed in honour of the late Ernest Shonekan, former head of an interim government.
Issues bordering on security and the economy were discussed at the meeting.
Former Nigerian leaders Yakubu Gowon, Abdulsalami Abubakar and Goodluck Jonathan attended the meeting. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida were absent.
Also present at the meeting include Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), and Babagana Monguno, national secretary adviser (NSA), also attended the meeting.
