The newly-promoted Premier League club completed the signing of the Nigeria international in the early hours of Saturday
Nottingham Forest fans have warmed up to Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi after the club announced the signing of the 24-year-old on Saturday, June 25.
Awoniyi completed a club-record €20.5 million switch from German Bundesliga side Union Berlin to draw out enthusiastic responses from a section of the Nottingham Forest supporter base.
Having gained promotion from the Championship last term, the Reds’ primary goal will be to retain their Premier League status at the end of next season.
A lot of that survival hopes will be placed on the goalscoring boots of Awoniyi, who has shown he is not shy of shouldering such enormous responsibility.
The former Liverpool signing was the main man for Union Berlin last campaign and will be full of confidence as he makes his Premier League bow.
Giving a hint of what to expect of Awoniyi, Nottingham Forest announced his arrival at the club with a video clip on their Twitter page showing some of Awoniyi’s goals for the Iron Ones.
And the fans adored the Nigerian forward, with one tagging him a ‘class signing, and another calling him the Nigerian Harry Kane in reference to Tottenham’s prolific English striker.
