The Algeria Football Association, AFF have announced that Les Verts of Algeria will take on Nigeria in a friendly on September 27 at the New Stadium, Oran, Algeria.
Algeria and Nigeria both failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Nigeria losing to Ghana while Algeria lost to Cameroon.
Algeria, a two-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, were earlier scheduled to take on the Black Stars of Ghana on the 27th of September, but the West Africans pulled out.
Algeria says it will take on the Syli Stars of Guinea on September 24 before the encounter with the Super Eagles.
The match will be a good test for the new Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro as Djamel Belmadi’s Algeria have won their last two encounters against the Super Eagles.
Algeria defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 in the semi-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations courtesy a stunning 95th minute free-kick to send Algeria to the AFCON Final in Egypt before winning Nigeria 1-0 in a friendly at the Jacques Lemans Arena, Austria in October 2020.
