We have set up a team to investigate Atiku convoy attack in Borno – IGP Alkali

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has said that a team has been constituted to investigate the attack on a convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar’s convoy in Borno state yesterday, November 9.

Alkali who spoke at the 57th ministerial briefing today, November 10, said Borno state Police PRO’s claim of the attack not happening might have been too hasty and not conclusive, hence the need to establish a team to make holistic assessment from the various narratives to ascertain the true picture and prevent a reoccurrence.

The IGP insisted that campaigns and rallies are being policed and optimal protection given, particularly when prompt information is provided about such political events.

He also said that though some aspects of police duties have been commercialized to generate more revenue through the Police specialized automated services (POSSAB) portal, this has been abused. He also dismissed claims of unscrupulous persons using portal to gain protection from the police.
