Tinubu meets governors of states sharing boundaries with Niger Republic

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, August 3, met with Nigerian Governors sharing boundaries with Niger Republic, where a military junta has ousted a democratically elected President.

Governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, Katsina, and Jigawa, attended the meeting which was held at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Though what was discussed during the meeting is not known at the moment, it is speculated to be part of the wider consultations by the president on the political instability in Niger.

It also coincided with the deadline from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the Nigerien military to reinstate deposed President Mohamed Bazoum.
