Truck driver arrested as detectives discover 1,040 wraps of suspected Indian hemp being offloaded from boat

The driver of a mini truck has been arrested after 1,040 wraps of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp were discovered being offloaded from a boat in Alaba.

According to police sources, detectives of the Tactical Squad in Ijanikin were on an early morning patrol on April 17 when they saw a white Mercedes Benz mini truck around Ajangbadi.

The detectives trailed the truck to Ilufe Waterside Jetty in Alaba International, Ojo, where they noticed large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp being offloaded from a flying boat.

They arrested 43-year-old Obiefile Nwagha, said to be the driver of the mini truck, at the Waterside Jetty.

A total of one thousand and forty (1,040) wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from 13 sacks.

The arrested driver alleged that one Ifeanyi contacted him to convey the substance from Waterside Jetty, Alaba, to Alaba International Market, Ojo.
