CHAN 2024: Chelle unveils Home-Based Super Eagles’ 23-man squad

Super Eagles’ Head coach, Eric Chelle has announced his final 23-man squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Chelle’s selection includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards. The team will depart Nigeria for Zanzibar on Thursday, July 24 to continue their preparations ahead of the tournament.

The home-based Super Eagles have been drawn into Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, as well as Congo and Sudan.

At their last CHAN appearance in 2018, Nigeria reached the final but suffered a 4–0 defeat to hosts Morocco.

This year’s competition will run from August 2 to August 30. The tournament was originally scheduled earlier in the year, but on January 14, CAF postponed it to allow more time for host preparations and to conduct a final qualifying round. Officials had raised concerns that Kenya’s venues were behind schedule.
