AFCON 2025: Alex Iwobi backs super Eagles to win fourth title in Morocco

Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi has expressed confidence that the Nigerian national team possesses the quality needed to win their fourth title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be hosted by Morocco.

Iwobi’s side came agonizingly close to lifting the trophy at the previous edition in 2023, where they fell 2-1 to the hosts, Côte d’Ivoire, in the final.. However, the midfielder is optimistic they can go all the way this time around.

In an interview on the Ay Suga YouTube channel, Iwobi shared his positive outlook.

“Yes, of course, the last AFCON, we were really close, but the only way we can improve from the last AFCON is to win the next one. We’ve got the players to do so, we believe so, we just have to prove it.”

He concluded with a statement of pure faith, adding, “I’ll like to speak into existence, I want to manifest, so I’d like to say Nigeria will win it.”

The Super Eagles are set to compete in Group C alongside the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, the Taifa Stars of Tanzania, and the Cranes of Uganda. Nigeria will begin their campaign against Tanzania in Fez on Tuesday, December 23rd.
