I will speak soon and Nigerians will know the truth about recent happenings in PDP – Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has revealed he will break his silence on the recent happenings in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that led to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party and his subsequent snub of Wike to appoint Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as vice presidential candidate.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Wike wrote;

I will speak soon and Nigerians will know the truth of all that has transpired in the PDP in recent times.

Wike’s tweet comes hours after his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, released a statement on Saturday, July 23 in Port Harcourt, that it is pertinent for him to reveal to Nigerians all that has transpired in the PDP since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar’s ticket.

“On Atiku, I will speak soon, and Nigerians will know the actual truth of all that has transpired in the PDP in recent times,” he was quoted to have said in the statement.

In the party’s presidential primary held in May, Atiku polled 371 votes to emerge as the PDP’s flagbearer ahead of Wike who scored 237 votes to come second in the contest.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki (70); Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel (38), Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed (38), Former Senate President Pius Anyim (14), Mrs Tari Diana Oliver (One), and Mr Sam Ohuabunwa (1) shared the remainder of the valid votes.

Following weeks after the primary held, Atiku then named Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate in the forthcoming election, allegedly fracturing his relationship with Wike in the process.
