Chidi Okezie Qualifies For Paris Olympics after breaking own record

Nigerian athlete, Chidi Okezie has secured qualification to this summer’s Olympic games in Paris after participating at the Edmonton Athletics Invitational in Canada.

At the invitational, Okezie ran a new personal best of 44.97s to win the men’s 400m, thereby grabbing his ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

He broke the 45 seconds for the first time in his career, defeating Wil London III and DaeQwan Butler both from the United States of America.

In March, Okezie braved all odds to win the top prize in the men’s 400m event in the African games after running an absolutely stunning race in the men’s 400m final; storming to a Personal Best (PB) of 45.06s.

Okezie defeated one of the world’s fastest men over this distance, Muzala Samukonga, from Zambia to claim the gold medal.
