Danish-Nigerian wonderkid, Chido Obi-Martin has completed his move to Premier League giants Manchester United after leaving Arsenal in the summer.
Obi-Martin made a splash in last season’s U18 Premier League, scoring 32 goals in 18 games and breaking a club record for the most goals scored by an Arsenal U18 player in a single season. In one game against Liverpool, he scored 10 goals.
According to Manchester United youth team guru, Academy Scoop, the dual-national striker can now be considered a Manchester United player.
The Red Devils on Friday, September 27 received formal communication from the Premier League that their prolonged ratification process for the transfer of former Arsenal starlet Chido Obi-Martin has been completed.
Obi-Martin already passed a routine medical examination and put pen to paper on a contract before the Premier League’s five-step review was concluded on Friday morning.
The five-step review is a process of investigation conducted before registering any academy player. Arsenal tried their best to retain the services of Obi-Martin, offering him a scholarship deal and then a professional contract, but Obi-Martin opted to embark on a new chapter in his career.
The Denmark U18 international, who can represent Nigeria or England has joined Manchester United on a scholarship deal and will sign professional forms on his 17th birthday in November 2024.
United have pulled off a massive transfer coup by bringing Obi-Martin to the club, fending off competition from the likes of Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Newcastle United.
