Davido has highlighted the need for the right leaders for Nigeria to move forward.
The singer spoke during an interview with Elevate Africa, published on YouTube on Thursday, Dec. 5.
“We can’t go forward without…we need the best leaders now first, that’s the most important thing,” Davido said, underscoring the critical role of competent governance in fostering development.
The singer praised the resilience and adaptability of Nigerians, noting that these qualities have enabled them to thrive in challenging environments.
However, he lamented the absence of effective leadership, saying it has been a major obstacle to the nation’s advancement.
The host asked, “Where do you think Africa should be by now, and how do we get there through music?”
Davido replied: “I tell people, I say if you can survive in Lagos or you can survive in Nigeria rather, you can survive anywhere. I feel like we’re survivors; we’re strong-willed people.”
He added: “Nigeria, if you go anywhere in the world, everybody has Nigerian friends. Whether you’re Chinese or…you have Nigerian friends everywhere in the world. I fly to do shows, Nigerian restaurants are there, and Nigerian communities are there. It just shows that we’re a force.”
“I just feel the only thing is just missing is just the right leaders to lead us. Once we get that right, I don’t think there’s anything that will stop us,” he concluded.
