NiDCOM reacts to latest k!lling of Nigerians in South Africa

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has reacted to the k!lling of two Nigerian traders in South Africa by gunmen.

Dabiri-Erewa, in a statement by NiDCOM spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, disclosed the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa was looking into the matter.

She noted that the early warning mechanism put in place by both countries to prevent such k!llings had yet to be implemented by South Africa.

The NiDCOM boss condoled with the bereaved families, assuring them that justice would be served.

It was gathered that two Nigerians, simply identified as Austin and Ayo, were shot de@d by masked gunmen in Durban, South Africa.

The gunmen were said to have stormed Austin’s office, shot him and his visitor, Ayo, point blank and they di£d on the spot.

Dabiri-Erewa appealed for calm and urged Nigerians in South Africa not to take laws into their hands while awaiting the outcome of the investigations by the South African police.

She added that the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner in South Africa has demanded a thorough and fair investigation into the incident.
