Abducted Imo catholic priest regains his freedom

The Catholic Priest and lecturer with the Imo State University, IMSU, Reverend Father Izu Marcel Onyeocha, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Sunday, April 11, has regained his freedom.

The clergyman regained his freedom in the early hours of today Monday, April 12.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Ikeokwu Orlando, states that Father Onyeocha was abducted on April 10. He said one Bissong Isa Atugu had reported to the police that on April 10 at about 7:45pm while driving in the company of Father Onyeocha from Enugu to Owerri in a Nissan Exterra SUV, their vehicle developed fault around Ihube in Okigwe LGA, and as they stepped down to check the vehicle, a group of people believed to be Fulani herdsmen emerged from the bush and inflicted matchet cut injuries on him, Atugu, while the priest was kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.
