The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have sent birthday wishes to former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike who turned 34 on Monday.
Both football governing body took to their verified Twitter handles to send their wishes.
CAF wrote:”The 2013 #TotalAFCON topscorer celebrates his birthday today!
“Send your wishes to the Nigerian eagle, @E29EMENIKE!
And according to the NFF:”Happy birthday to #Afcon2013 champion, @E29EMENIKE. Best wishes!”
Emenike started his football career with Delta Force in Delta State before moving to South Africa to play for Mpumalanga Black Aces and FC Cape Town.
He then moved to Europe where he featured for clubs like Karabukspor, Fenerbahce, Spartak Moscow, West Ham and Olympiacos.
He made his Super Eagles debut in 2011 and scored nine goals in 37 appearances before retiring from international football in 2015.
During his time in the Eagles, he emerged top scorer with four goals as the team won the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.
He went on to feature for Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where the Eagles for to the round of 16.
