NICOT president, Prince Magboh Seeks Reduction In Cargo Fares To Nigeria

Owing to recent outcry by Nigerian business men and women resident in Turkey concerning the increase in the cost of Turkish air cargo flights, the president of Nigeria community in Turkey, NICOT, Prince Emre Magboh seeking for a total reduction in the cargo services.

This was the prices in the cost of cargo flights to Nigeria keeps hiking, hence raising serious concern by importers and exporters of Nigeria origin.

The President did not only show concern by entering into talks with the officials of the Turkish Airline, but also, has thrown his weight towards ensuring that the right thing is done by establishing strong negotiation with the Authorities.

After a close door meeting with top officials of the company at Yesilkoy – Bakirkoy in Istanbul last Friday 5th March, 2021, the NICOT President, Prince Magboh who expressed optimism on the outcome of the meeting told our reporter that positive results are imminent.

He said both parties would reach a common ground towards finding a lasting solution to ease the cost of transportation of goods and services for Nigerian business men and women trading in Turkey.

Prince Magboh reiterated that the increment would tripple the effects on the prices of Turkish goods and services in Nigeria owing to the economic crunch biting hard on many economies during this pandemic.

He opined, “The increase may discourage Nigerian consumers from Turkish wares, as well discourage Nigerian business men and women here in Turkey”.

Citing more instances, he pointed out that Chinese goods have overtime gained a larger percentage at the Nigeria market, stressing that if the increase persists, there may be a paradigm shift in the demand of Turkish goods and services by Nigerian consumers for a suitable substitute at a fair price.

According to Prince Magboh, “Chinese goods and services have close competition with other major foreign goods in the Nigerian market and with an increase in the prices of Turkish wares, the tendency for customers shifting to other foreign substitute will increase, and we don’t want that to happen, that’s why we are here today, to establish a common ground for a convenient price to enable the ease for transportation. We don’t want to lose our customer base” he concluded.

In his response, the Chief Executive Officer of Dialogtrans, Mr. Gokmen Yildiz thanked Nigeria business men and women ably represented by the NICOT president. He blamed the increase of air cargo fares on Covid-19 pandemic and fluctuations in the exchange rate but promised to work on the demands and proposals of the Nigerian business men and women to maintain the long standing relationship between them.

Present at the meeting were: President of Nigeria Community in Turkey, Prince Emre Magboh, the Chief Executive Officer of Dialogtrans, Mr. Gokmen Yildiz, the General Manager, Dialogtrans, Mr. Ozgur Cetinkol and Mr. Ali Yildiz.
