Retired police officer arrested for allegedly beating wife to death

A retired Assistant Superintendent of Police has been arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death in Bauchi.

Daniel Salka, who is also the head of Sabon Layi Kwara hamlet in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has been suspended by his local government over the alleged violence that led to his wife’s death, Hajara Daniel.

A statement from the Chairman of Bogoro local government, Iliya Habila, signed by Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Marcus Nehemaih, reads: “The suspension is with immediate effect pending the outcome of an investigation by the police.

“Mr. Daniel Salka is alleged to have beaten his wife, the late Mrs Hajara, to death on April 19, 2021. He was arrested by the combined team of vigilantes and DSS officials on April 26, 2021 in Bayara suburb and has since been handed over to the police in Bogoro.”

It was learnt that Daniel was apprehended by a combined team of vigilante and DSS after he fled to Bayara, a suburb in Bauchi. The suspect was thereafter moved back to the village where the incident took place and handed over to the police in Bogoro for necessary action.
