Kano police officer, one other get N1m reward for rejecting bribe from fake drug dealers

A police officer attached to the Kano State Command, Inspector Garba Saleh Rabo, and one Jamilu Buhari Alkasim, an official with the Kano State Consumer Protection Council, have received more monetary reward for rejecting N1m offered them as bribe by fake drug dealers. 

Inspector Rabo and Alkasim, had received information that expired goods worth billions of Naira were kept in a warehouse. The task force team stormed the warehouse, where N1m was offered them as bribe. They rejected the bribe, recovered the expired goods, the money as exhibit and arrested the suspects. 

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the latest development in a statement issued on Monday, May 31, said the N1m was donated by Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Zone 2 Command Onikan Lagos, France Chapter.

“On the 31/05/2021, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi handed over the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) to Inspector Garba Rabo attached to the Command’s Department of Operations and Jamilu Buhari attached to Kano State Consumer Pretection Council (KCPC),” the statement reads.

“The money was donated by Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Zone 2 Command Onikan Lagos, Nigeria, France Chapter, through the former Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Lagos, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, psc(+) (Rtd). This development came after Kano State Government, through Managing Director Kano Road & Traffic Agency (KAROTA), DR Baffa Babba Dan Agundi donated the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) to the officers on the 25/03/2021.

In a letter of Appreciation sent to the Command and signed by the chairman, PCRC Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos, France Chapter, Chief Bashorun Omotayo Oluwasegun, stated that,

“These two Police Officers, Garba Rabo and Jamilu Buhari has made everyone to know that Integrity and Discipline are hard currency that money can’t buy and are attributes one can only attain by dedication, honesty and a structured and focus life. This act by these Police Officers is indeed worthy of emulation by the rest of the officers especially the younger ones who just stepped their foot into the commission. This shows that there is still greater hope for Nigeria and the Commission despite the challenges bedevilling the society they distinguished themselves and proven to be heroes and icons in the commission and society.”

“We therefore, pledge to offer the above officers the sum of 1,000,000 naira to motivate them and to tell them the world that we’re part of Nigerians in diaspora that support the patriotic security agents in Nigeria and the continue existence of one United Nigeria where justice and respect for the citizens strive above personal and selfish interest. Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria! Long Live PCRC Zone 2 Lagos Nigeria!! Long Live PCRC Zone 2 Diaspora France Chapter.”
