Calling me Jubril from Sudan wasn’t a funny joke, I’m doing my best but it’s not good enough – President Buhari

President Buhari has described the claim that he had “died” and was replaced by one Jibril from Sudan, as a joke that was not funny.

The President gave this rection in a documentary shown at a dinner organized by his family and very closed associates, to celebrate his 80th birthday tagged “Celebrating A Patriot, a Leader, an Elder Statesman” at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday, December 23.

According to him, some Nigerians have a way of creating humor to feast on something they do not understand, saying the development was the handiwork of some mischief makers to demonstrate their cheekiness.

Asked by the interviewer if he heard about the crazy rumor a while back that he was not Buhari, he replied

“Yes! People said I am somebody from Sudan. I didn’t bother with the name. Nigerians have mischievous ways of explaining themselves.”

Asked how he finds such jokes passed around, the President said;

“Is not funny because those who made those statement, they just want to be cheeky. They want to distract attention from the main issues.”

Meanwhile, President Buhari says he is doing his best for Nigerians but it appears his best is not good enough.

The Cable reports that the President said this in a documentary that was screened on Friday night at a private dinner organized by his family and close associates to celebrate his 80th birthday.

The documentary was tagged “celebrating a patriot, a leader, an elder statesman”. The president said there are some people who have made attempts to undermine his administration.

“I believe I’m trying my best, but still my best is not good enough. Because there are people around that think that they can intimidate me to get what they want instead of going through certain systems to earn whatever they want to earn. And there are some people who want to be clever by half.”the President was quoted as saying

President Buhari added that he will not miss his time in office because he is being “harassed.I?m doing my best but it?s not good enough – President Buhari

“I wonder if I am going to miss much. I think I’m being harassed,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo said the president is a “forthright, good and kind man”.

“Mr. President is a very humorous man and I think he would make a very good career in entertainment one way or the other when he retires,” he said.
