Nigeria Vs England: Super Falcons train ahead of must win clash at Women’s World Cup

The Super Falcons of Nigeria on Thursday, August 3 returned to training at the Lions FC Stadium in Australia after enjoying two-days off ahead of their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup round of 16 clash with England.

While the Super Falcons drew 0-0 with the Republic of Ireland to finish second in Group B and qualify for the round of 16, England thrashed China 6-1 in their last group game to finish top of Group D ensuring a match against Nigeria in the next round.

At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 7, the Three Lionesses and the Super Falcons will clash in Brisbane, Australia for the quarter-finals ticket. This will be their second meeting at the World Cup. Their first meeting at the tournament was on July 23, 2002, which ended in a 3-2 defeat to Nigeria.

However, the Super Falcons have defeated England in two friendly games in the past – 1-0 on July 23, 2002, and 3-0 on April 22, 2004.
