NFF President promises to introduce VAR in local league

Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has promised to introduce the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Speaking at the first retreat of the management and personnel of NPFL in Abuja, Gusau said the federation would begin the process of implementing VAR in local league by dispatching certain referees to observe and learn from other nations that have already implemented the system.

He said;

“I can assure you that VAR will be effectively put into use in our domestic football before the end of my first tenure as president of the Nigeria Football Federation in 2026. It will be gradual, but we will surely get there.”
