Akpabio and Ogbonnaya Onu resign to pursue their presidential bids

Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, have tendered their resignation.

This comes after President Buhari directed all members of the Federal Executive Council seeking elective positions to resign from office on or before May 16.

Jackson Udom, media aide to Akpabio, confirmed the resignation of his principal in a statement issued on Wednesday May 11, while Onu was said to have submitted his resignation letter to the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, had tendered his resignation in April when he purchased the APC Presidential nomination and expression of interest form.

The trio are seeking to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general election.
